Carol Reynolds

Artist’s Statement

Art is what I have always done.  As a child, my mother, an accomplished artist, nurtured my drawing and painting.  After many years of creating and exhibiting, she still inspires me. I paint Oils and Pastels in a variety of subjects both from observation, as well as studio work using reference photos. Every day I’m inspired by my beautiful surroundings, a seaport with historical architecture.  My art is about savoring the details. Painting figures and commissioned portraits is undeniably my passion.  There is nothing more exciting than when a face or a likeness, emerges into an expressive presence. I take my time to create a bold composition to lead the viewer to quietly linger within. My art allows me to share my experiences, my places, and portray personalities.
